If your baby passes very pale, bulky stools with very
offensive smell, it could mean that your baby is unable to
digest gluten, a protein found in wheat containing
products. Another characteristic of the stools passed by a
baby suffering from coeliac disease is that they float when
you try to flush them away. This condition of coeliac can
be avoided to some extent by introducing gluten-free foods
only before the age of six months. Consult your doctor if
you think your baby is allergic to gluten. A wide range of
gluten free alternatives are now available and need to be
made a part of the regular diet of a person suffering from
this disease.
