Repeated attacks of middle ear infection can lead to
glue ear which is the accumulation of a sticky fluid in the
middle ear. This can have an effect on your child's
hearing. If you feel that your child's hearing has not come
back to normal a few weeks after an ear infection, you must
consult a doctor as this could be an indication of glue
ear. In most cases a decongestant helps clear the fluid but
sometimes an operation may be required to remove the fluid
and dry out the ear.
