Lice are tiny insects that infest the hair. Lice are
very easily spread from one head to another so if your
child has lice in her head, inform her friends or
classmates at school. Lice lay tiny white eggs (called
nits) which can cling to the hair roots. Lice in your hair
cause itchiness and one of the first signs of lice in your
child's hair will be her scratching the head
vigorously.
Lice and nits can be easily treated with over-the-counter
lotions. Your pharmacist will be able to advise you on
this.
