Baby's first year : Wind
A TO Z OF COMMON CONCERNS
- Wind
It is a common sight to see little babies being burped
after a feed. This is because babies tend to swallow air
while feeding. This air or wind is uncomfortable for them
and may cause some babies to bring up some or all of their
feed. Breastfedbabies have less wind as compared to
bottlefed babies.
It is best to try and wind your baby after a feed everytime
especially till he is six months old (once they start on
solids, the 'bringing up of milk' problem reduces). Place
your baby against your shoulder or sit him forward on your
lap and rub his back gently. Give up after about half a
minute. It is not essential that your baby will bring up
trapped wind after every feed.
