Little Kit has this habit of coming into our room whenever she wakes up – this could be 10 minutes after she’s gone to bed or 1pm or even 3am or like this morning since 5am! I kept sending her back but she kept coming back till I gave up at 5:30am when she decided she wanted to sit on my lap while I worked on the computer! What is funny about her coming into our room is that she does not come alone, she spends a minute or two in her own room gathering some toys (sometimes a decent number of them) and then she makes a royal entry into our room after opening the door with a bang (in the middle of the night) with her entourage…today was annoying because she found this long, lost Fisher Price doggy from the time when she was a crawling baby (I remember hiding it somewhere so God knows how much time she spent in her room finding this toy this morning!)…so when she entered our room it was with that annoying tick, tick, tick of a silly, smiling doggy and trust me this is a sound you do not want to wake up to in the morning!

The best part of all this is the way Kit wakes me up – some days (or nights) she will not bang the door – she will enter the room noiselessly and will simply stand by my side as I sleep blissfully. As if sensing her presence, I always wake up and least to say, my first reaction is extreme fright (as you can imagine if you see someone standing so close to you when you least expect them to!) – Other days she will come and touch her little fingers on my lips or face – again noiselessly but again equally scary!!
Funny enough…although we have a video monitor installed in her room, it does not seem to pick her movements (setting is on sensitive) – has Kit found a way to fool that too?
Looking forward to Kit growing up? Not sure…she looks adorable and I love her in this size so far.
Food for thought: How does your child wake you up in the middle of the night or are you one of the envious lot who sleep right from beginning to end…if so, how did you establish your perfect routine?
