Nine Months : Third Stage of Labour - Delivery of Placenta
Third Stage of Labour - Delivery of Placenta
What happens in this stage?
The third stage involves the delivery of the placenta soon after your baby is born.
* This stage usually takes less than half hour.
* You will be given an injection of syntometrine during or right after birth. This helps to deliver the placenta quickly.
* After the injection, the womb contracts strongly and the placenta is delivered.
* The midwife or doctor will check the placenta to see if it is complete and that no parts are left in your body.
