What is TENS?

TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation, and has successfully been used for many years by pregnant women and professional midwives to treat labour pain.

How does the Elle TENS work?

At the onset of labour, apply the 4 pads to your back as shown in the accompanying instructions and switch the Elle TENS unit on. You will feel a pleasant pulsing sensation. This will help to increase your own pain relieving chemicals known as endorphins. When experiencing a contraction, simply press the boost button for the extra surge of power needed to combat the pain. When the contraction ends, press the boost button again and restart the cycle.

Why is the Elle TENS so good?

The Elle TENS has been designed to give you complete flexibility and control throughout your labour, and can be used both at home and in the hospital. All settings are preset which means there is no fuss in setting up the unit. As both channels have their own intensity keys, each pair of electrodes can be adjusted separately in the mid-back and lower back further enhancing your control over the pain. At the onset of a contraction, simply press the integrated boost button (positioned at the top of the unit) for that extra surge of power needed to combat the pain.

What is Opti-max technology?

Opti-max technology gives an extra reserve of power for when you really need it. It is most commonly used for the final stages of labour when you are ready to deliver and need extra pulse power. It can also be used at any time depending on your preference.

Yes, you should not use the Elle TENS before 37 weeks of pregnancy or if you use a demand type pacemaker. If you suffer from epilepsy or have any doubts whatsoever consult a medical adviser.

Can I use any TENS unit?

No, the Elle TENS is specifically designed for childbirth. It uses larger pads than conventional TENS and includes a booster button which is used for contractions.

Is the Elle TENS safe?
