When should I use Femé Pad?

During childbirth, a woman's perineum (the part of the body between the opening to the vagina and the rectal area) will stretch and may be susceptible to tearing. Sometimes, it is necessary for a midwife or doctor to perform a cut (episiotomy) in order to assist with delivery. In both instances, stitching may be required. Swelling and bruising can occur very quickly following childbirth, whether or not stitches have been necessary, and many women experience some degree of perineal pain and discomfort for several days. Usually a woman will be advised to take painkillers and bathe. A cool pack may be given to try and alleviate the pain and discomfort by numbing the area, but some women find them uncomfortable and difficult to wear.

Instructions for Use (The Femé Pad is suitable for repeated use by one individual.)

1. Place container and gel pads in a freezer for a minimum of 2 hours prior to use.

2. Insert one gel pad into a gauze sleeve and apply carefully to the wound.

3. After use, discard the gauze sleeve

4. The gel pad must be cleaned in hot, soapy water and dried thoroughly before returning to the freezer.
